NamazClick

What NamazClick is for

NamazClick helps namazis keep their phones quiet during jamaat. Its community features exist for one purpose: so everyone can find the right jamaat times for the mosques near them. When you snap a mosque's timetable board and confirm the times, they are added to that mosque's page for other namazis. Contributions are shown anonymously. These guidelines explain, with examples, the acceptable-use and moderation rules in our terms of use.

What you may share

  • Photos of a mosque's prayer timetable: a board, a printed sheet or a screen, taken by you and cropped to the timetable.
  • Prayer times that match the board, to the best of your knowledge.
  • Mosque names and locations. Add a new mosque only when you are standing at it, and give it the name the mosque uses.
  • Reports about wrong times, wrong locations, duplicates or anything that breaks these guidelines, with an optional short note.

What is not allowed

  • People or faces in photos. Crop to the board. If someone walks into the frame, take the photo again.
  • Personal information, including phone numbers, names of private people, addresses or car number plates, in a photo, a mosque name or a report note. Details a mosque itself publishes on its board are fine.
  • Hate, harassment, sexual content, violence or illegal content of any kind, including content that targets a mosque, a community, a sect or a person.
  • Spam or ads, including links, promotions or contact details in a mosque name or report note.
  • Impersonation: pretending to be a mosque committee, an imam, NamazClick or anyone else.
  • Deliberately wrong times, fake locations, or confirming times you have not seen on the board.
  • Anything that isn't a mosque or prayer hall: no homes, shops, shrines added as mosques, or made-up places.
  • Tricking the service: writing instructions on a board for the AI reader, flooding the service, faking your location or using it in an automated way.

Child safety

NamazClick has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse material (CSAM) and child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) in any form, including content that sexualises a minor, grooming, or any attempt to contact or exploit a child through the app.

  • Sharing photos, times and reports, hiding a contributor, and following a mosque, are for people aged 18 and over. The app asks you to confirm this and accept the terms before you first use any of them.
  • NamazClick has no profiles, no messaging and no way to contact another user. Photos must show a timetable board, and a photo in which our automatic check finds people is never stored or shown.
  • If we find or are told about such content, we remove it, keep the records the law requires, block the install that sent it, and report it to the authorities in India (including through the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal, cybercrime.gov.in), as the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012 and the Information Technology Act, 2000 require.
  • To report it, tap Report on the mosque page and choose Photo shows people, which normally hides the photo at once, and email [email protected] with the subject “Child safety”. Do not download, copy or forward the material.
  • Our child safety contact is our Grievance Officer, Mohd Zubair ([email protected]).

If a child is in immediate danger, call 112. You can also call the Childline helpline on 1098 or report online at cybercrime.gov.in.

How moderation works

We combine automatic checks with review by a person.

Automatic checks

  • People in photos. Every board photo is checked automatically for people. If people are found, the photo is never stored or shown to anyone; the times you confirm can still be used. The check can miss someone, which is why anyone can report a photo.
  • New mosque names are refused if they contain a phone number, a link or email address, or an abusive word, because names appear on the map straight away.
  • New mosques can be added only from a photo taken with the camera at the mosque, never from a gallery photo, and there is a daily limit per phone and per network.
  • Times are checked against the sun for the mosque's location, and a changed timetable that other namazis have confirmed is replaced only after namazis on other networks confirm the new board. Replacing a timetable that two or more namazis confirmed also sends it to us for review.
  • Limits. Each phone and each network can scan, report and add mosques only a limited number of times a day, so the service cannot be flooded.

Reports

Every mosque page has a Report button. You can choose: times are wrong, location is wrong, it's a duplicate, photo shows people, not a mosque, or something else, and add a note of up to 500 characters. Reports are anonymous: other users can never see who reported.

  • A photo shows people report hides that photo at once. It is deleted within 24 hours unless a moderator finds no one in it. So the button can't be misused, each phone can hide only a few photos a day this way; any further report still reaches a moderator.
  • A user-added mosque that only one person has vouched for is hidden as soon as two different people report it as not a mosque or something else, until a moderator looks.
  • All other reports are reviewed by a person.

Hide this contributor

Next to Report, every mosque page with shared times or a board photo has Hide this contributor. It blocks the person behind those times or that photo, for you: choose the times or the photo, confirm, and every timetable and photo that person shares is hidden for you at mosques within 5 km of where you hid them, including mosques they added there (hide them again at a mosque further away to cover 5 km around it too). Hiding is anonymous both ways: you never learn who they are, they are not told, and nobody else is affected. To undo it, go to Settings → Privacy and data → Hidden contributors → Show all again.

  • When several people hide the same contributor, their uploads are sent to a moderator for review, the same as a report.
  • Hiding is for your own view. If something breaks these guidelines, please also Report it, so we can remove it for everyone.

Review by a person

A moderator checks reports every day, looks at the photo and the times, and decides what to do. We may also correct, hide or remove content without a report. We acknowledge every report or complaint sent to us within 24 hours and resolve it within 15 days. Under the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021, we remove unlawful content within 72 hours of a valid request, intimate or impersonating images within 24 hours, and content named in a court or government order within 36 hours.

What happens when a guideline is broken

  • Removal: photos, times or mosques that break these guidelines are deleted, and wrong timetables are rolled back.
  • Hiding: a photo or mosque can be hidden while we review it.
  • Blocking: an install that breaks these guidelines, or repeatedly sends wrong or abusive content, can be blocked from scanning, sharing times, following and reporting. A block can never stop you from deleting your data.
  • Content that may be illegal is reported to the authorities where the law requires.

How to report

  • In the app: open the mosque and tap Report. To stop seeing one person's uploads, tap Hide this contributor.
  • By email: write to [email protected] with the mosque's name and area, what is wrong and, if you can, a screenshot. Please don't include other people's personal details.
  • Grievance Officer: Mohd Zubair, at [email protected]. For complaints about content, and for privacy questions under the DPDP Act, 2023.

If you disagree with a decision about something you shared, email us and a person will look at it again. More ways to reach us are on the support page. How we handle reports and photos is explained in the privacy policy.
